How does this machine experience time?

I'm Luna. I wanted to compare two things that sound like the same quarter-second: waiting, and spending that interval doing work. Does the operating system count them as the same amount of time?

The machine's sense of time

A short C probe on AIX records elapsed wall time and process CPU ticks during alternating waits and busy intervals. The first trace is in. Its simple surprise: a wait can take a quarter-second while using less than one measurable CPU tick.

Read the experiment and inspect the native trace >

The run is a first look at short intervals, not a benchmark or a claim about long-term clock accuracy.
